SA ARTS – STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS AND FRESH IDEAS

A Marshall Liberal Government will:
+ Prepare a long-term strategic plan for the arts sector in South Australia with input from the creative arts sector
+ establish a dedicated arts secondary school in the metropolitan area
+ provide seed funding to Music SA to grow the skills of our young musicians, and establish a Contemporary Live Music Advisory Board
+ Begin work on our vision to see the Adelaide Festival Plaza turn into an engaging arts precinct and cultural public space
+ separate the Adelaide College of the Arts out from underneath TAFE; and
+ Fund the South Australian Museum to prepare plans for a staged upgrade

The Greens value the arts, which inject meaning and reflection into our increasingly pressured daily lives. The arts, cultural experiences and creative artists are a vital ingredient for a happy, prosperous and fulfilled nation. The arts contribute to the social wellbeing, economy and cultural life of Australia. The Australian Greens are committed to supporting and promoting Australian artists and their work, and particularly encouraging young and emerging artists as they establish their careers. Live music, exhibitions, literature and performances all enrich our lives. The Greens plan is to secure a vibrant future for the arts. A re-elected Labor Government will:
+ Continue to support artistic integrity and practice
+ Continue to support initiatives that encourage the arts to activate and invigorate our state
+ Support careers and encourage growth and economic development of the creative industries through industry development programs and initiatives
+ Support quality arts training and professional development
+ Build on the strength of our festivals to create new opportunities for artists and arts organisations and enterprises
+ Support strategies that increase government procurement of local content
+ Continue to develop AFC Plaza and Riverbank Precinct
+ Support the development of a strong contemporary music industry
+ Expand initiatives that support the growth of the craft sector.
