AICSA was very pleased to attend a round table discussion for the visual arts, craft and design sector in Adelaide facilitated by the National Association for the Visual Arts, (NAVA).

Tamara Winnikoff, Executive Director of NAVA provided a national overview post federal election, highlighting uncertainty and concern around the likelihood of funding cuts. There was brief discussion on the arts and education in schools, the creative industries in general and focussed discussion around changes in the career paths of creative practitioners.

Tamara also tapped into ideas towards developing a national summit for the visual arts, craft, design and media sectors. It was clear that there are consistent and unique issues between each of these sub sectors and varying views and approaches towards developing responses and ideas for the future.

AICSA is very pleased the group would like to meet again and will work with Rick Clise, artist and NAVA Board member towards convening further discussion focusing on common goals of which there are many.
