A REPORT INTO FOUR SECTORS OF STRENGTH AND OPPORTUNITY IN THE ARTS

In determining a future for South Australia, the relevance and strength of the arts and creative sector has never been more important.  Besides providing enriching experiences and deep connection, the creative sector has the potential for significant growth, growing jobs and boosting the economy.

With funds from the economic strategy division on the Department of State Development, the Arts Industry Council of SA, through Brecknock Consulting, has taken the lead in exploring and developing opportunities for four sectors of the arts where we currently show national leadership.

Minister for the Arts, the Hon. Jack Snelling said “I am pleased that the Arts Industry Council has worked across the arts sector to deliver strategies to grow our creative economy.  The Government, through Arts SA, looks forward to working with the Arts Industry to increase jobs and opportunities for makers and presenters, across these important arts sectors”.

Gail Kovatseff, Chair of the Arts Industry Council of SA, said “We know that we lead the nation in many of our arts and cultural endeavours.  To focus on growth opportunities for four of these has been motivating and extremely positive for the sector.  As the report indicates, there is opportunity for collaboration with other industries, as well as working to be the best in the world at what we do”.
